If you’ll be here over the 4th of July you won’t want to miss the Annual Murrells Inlet Boat Parade just south of Garden City Beach. The first parade took place in 1984 and continued for the next 23 years. This year the event will have over 40 participants. In previous years, the parade had as many as 125 boat entrants. Organizers give a trophy to the best-decorated boat. The best spots to view the parade are Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, Capt. Dick’s Marina, Belin Memorial United Methodist Church and Nance’s Restaurant and Hot Fish Club. Fireworks follow the parade and for the first time ever, fireworks this year will have a new staging area — off the end of Veterans Pier!
